New CMS 1500 (02-12) Claim Forms

The new CMS 1500 (20-12) claim forms are available in your keys for immediate use. There are a few things to keep in mind before changing your claim forms to this new format.

1)      Contact your carriers you bill on paper claim forms, and find out if they are ready to accept the new claim form. If they are not, find out the date they anticipate to be ready.

For further information on this new claim form, please see the CMS website on this change: http://www.cms.gov/Outreach-and-Education/Medicare-Learning-Network-MLN/MLNMattersArticles/downloads/MM8509.pdf

 2)      Once you have contacted your carriers to find out when they are ready to take the new paper claim form, please follow the instructions below to update your AdvancedMD system to use these forms.

To Update the New Claim Form for all Carriers:

1)      Go to: Utilities, System Defaults:

Your AdvancedMD system is now set to print the new CMS-1500 (02-12) claim form when running claims through the Claims Submission Wizzard. Please keep in mind when demanding claims, you will still need to manually select this claim form to print.

To Update the New Claim Form for only  Certain Carriers:

(*Use this option if not all your carriers are ready to process the new paper claim form*)

 1)      Follow the above instructions to update all carriers.

 2)      With a list of your carriers who are not ready to accept the new claim forms, go to Master Files, Carriers, Carriers:

5)       Click OK  then click  SAVE and CLOSE to save your changes.

Your AdvancedMD system is now configured to print the new claim forms for  carriers who accept them, and will print the old claim form for carriers who are not quite ready to accept them.

Please keep in mind that as your carriers who were not ready to take the new claim form, become ready to accept the claim form,  you will need to follow the above instructions and change the primary form to DEFAULT  if your system default is set to the new paper claim form,  as outlined in the first set of instructions above.
